Metroid (NES)

The very first chapter of the Metroid-series, that introduced us to the awesome bounty hunter, Samus Aran, and singlehandedly invented a whole new genre, that's since become known as "metroidvanias". 

It's a classic and a must-play, even if it hasn't aged too gracefully.
