Home Alone 2 Promotional Button Pin Badge (90s)

When was the slogan of the Home Alone-series ever "Don't Go Home Alone"?! I have never, ever heard about that before. 
How does that even make sense in correlation to the plot? The whole plot is Kevin was forgotten, and so he has to be home alone - he was never planning on going home alone. That is just poor marketing. 

Badge is cool though.
